What is Watson Brown Foundation Scholarship About
In 1970 Walter J. Brown founded an individual foundation to further his belief that providing quality education to children was key to success. The Watson Brown Scholarship is awarded to students in the Savannah Valley (Southeastern united states). The Watson Brown Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students who are from the community in and around the Savannah River Valley, where Walter J. Brown was born and lived most of his life.
The primary goal of the Watson Brown Foundation is to provide the need and merit-based scholarships. This scholarship is to select South Carolina and Georgia students attending accredited four-year colleges and universities in the United States.
The internal scholarship program is managed entirely by Foundation staff and grant awards are determined by the Board of Trustees at regular second-quarter meetings.
Eligibility Requirements For Watson Foundation Scholarship
Current high school seniors or undergraduate students may apply for the scholarship. A student’s permanent home address must be within the designated county region in Georgia or South Carolina at the time of high school graduation.
Students will have to attend a 4 year, regionally accredited, non-profit college. The Foundation takes into account colleges and universities accredited by one of the six regional accreditation agencies, such as SACS.
While standardized test scores reflect not only academic achievement, the Scholarship Committee will not consider the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Testing (ACT) scores when analyzing applications.
Also, Watson Brown recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to renew the scholarship. This GPA is mandatory for eligibility

The Watson Brown Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students who are from the community in and around the Savannah River Valley specifically Georgia and South Carolina. Eligible students must be from one of the 16 counties listed below;

The Scholarship board examines every aspect of the applicant’s application. The Foundation also includes the students’ best results from each test, so ensure to include all your test results in your application.
How To Apply For Watson Brown Foundation Scholarship
- Complete your application online, there are instructions given for each step of the application. And make sure it’s done before the deadline.
- Confirm that your transcript and letter of recommendation have been uploaded to your online application. If they have not been uploaded, check with your recommender or counselor as the requested email might have gone to their “Spam” or “Trash” folders.
- Ensure the above steps of the application process is complete and submit your application by the deadline. Make sure you get a confirmation mail after you have submitted your application.
Benefits of Watson Foundation Scholarship
A renewable $5,000 Scholarship will be awarded by the Watson Brown Foundation Scholarship to all eligible and qualified recipients in the United States.
